Pulling a tired kitchen or bathroom out of a Kingsville weatherboard, and now there is a pile in the hallway that has to go somewhere? That is the job behind most of the bin hire we do in this corner of Maribyrnong, and Binswest has run the inner-west out of our Sunshine North yard since 2010. The thing that quietly decides a Kingsville booking is not the size of the skip. It is whether that skip can sit on your own block, or whether it has to go out on the street. Tell us your address and we will sort that with you before you commit to anything. A 4m3 mini starts from $450, and if you call before 9am we can usually have it on site the same day.
Where Your Skip Sits Down the Side of a Period Cottage
This is the question we get first out here, and it is a fair one. Kingsville is single-fronted Victorian and Federation cottages on the tight frontages the inner-west is known for, with side-drives that pinch to almost nothing between the weatherboard and the fence. On plenty of these blocks a 2m3 or 3m3 mini slides onto the driveway with room to load, and the bin never leaves your property. On the ones where it cannot, the skip goes kerbside on the nature strip or the road, and at that point a council placement permit comes into it.
You do not have to guess which one you are. Send us the address and a quick word on where you were picturing the bin, and we will tell you straight: driveway, or kerb with a permit. That answer is what shapes the rest of the booking, so we settle it first rather than after the truck is loaded.
About Binswest
Binswest is a locally owned operator that has been running skip bins across Melbourne’s western, northern and inner suburbs since 2010, headed by founder Mark and a crew of seven-plus with around a hundred years of combined experience between them. More than 6,000 clients have booked us in that time, and roughly a quarter of our work now comes from people sending us on to their neighbours. Everything that goes into a bin comes back to our Government-Approved Waste Transfer Station in Sunshine North for sorting, where in 2024 we recycled 41% of what we collected, repurposed another 35%, and sent only 24% to landfill. That sorting is part of the standard price, not a green add-on, so a Kingsville renovation load gets pulled apart for recovery the same as any other.
What Bin Hire in Kingsville Costs
We publish a price for every fixed-rate size so you can size the job before you call, rather than chasing a quote form for a number. These are starting prices for a standard general-waste load. Heavier material such as soil, brick or concrete is weight-limited, and we will flag that when you tell us what is going in.

Bigger hooklift and Marrel bodies above 8m3 are quoted per job, because the weight and the access vary too much to pin to a flat figure. Tell us the load and we will put a number on it.
Same-Day and Next-Day Delivery to Kingsville
Kingsville sits close to our Sunshine North base, so it is one of the easier inner-west runs for us to reach quickly. Book before 9am and we can usually get a bin to you the same day, subject to how busy the day already is. Anything booked later drops the next working day. Our standard rhythm is a Monday delivery and a Thursday pickup, but the hire window is flexible and most jobs run three to seven days, with extensions if a renovation runs long. We are on the road Monday to Saturday, and online enquiries are picked up on Sundays too, so a weekend clear-out is not stuck waiting for the office to reopen.

Sizing a Bin to a Kingsville Renovation
Most of what we drop in Kingsville is renovation and restoration waste, and the size question tends to answer itself once you know what is coming out. A single-room refit, one kitchen or one bathroom, generally fits a 3m3 or 4m3, and the 4m3 has a wheelbarrow door and ramp that makes loading rubble and old cabinetry far less of a fight. A whole-of-house period restoration, or a reno plus a garden overhaul on top, usually wants a 6m3 or 8m3. If you are unsure, describe the rooms and the rough volume and we will steer you to the size that fits the job and the driveway both, because the largest bin is no help if it cannot physically stand where you need it.
- Green Waste

- General Rubbish
Household items, old furniture, junk
- Building Materials

- Industrial Waste

What You Can and Can’t Put in the Bin
Our bins take household clean-out waste, renovation and construction debris, timber, green waste and general rubbish, which covers almost everything a Kingsville period-home job throws up. A few materials are excluded by waste regulations and OH&S load-safety rules and cannot go in any skip: asbestos, gas bottles, tyres, batteries, wet paint and flammable liquids. Bins also must not be loaded above the fill line. Asbestos is worth flagging early on older housing of this era, because pre-renovation material can contain it and it needs separate licensed handling rather than the skip. For the full rundown of what is in and out, our guide to what is allowed in our skip bins lays it out, and we will confirm any unusual item when you book.
- Wet Paints
Liquid paints or leftover tins
- Flammable Liquid
Petrol, thinners, solvents, oils
- Asbestos
Any bonded or loose asbestos
- Gas Bottles
BBQ cylinders, LPG tanks
- Tyres. Batteries*
Car tires, lithium's or lead-acid batteries
Do not overfill skip bins for OH&S reasons

Maribyrnong City Council Permits for a Kerbside Placement
When a skip stands on your own driveway, inside your boundary, no permit is needed and there is nothing to arrange. When it has to go on the road, the nature strip or the footpath, the City of Maribyrnong requires a placement permit for it. That covers the bulk of Kingsville, because most of the suburb sits in Maribyrnong City Council.
There is one wrinkle worth knowing. Down toward the Sussex Street edge, Kingsville butts up against Hobsons Bay, and a handful of streets answer to that council instead. It matters because the permit goes to whichever council your street actually sits in, not the suburb name on the map. We confirm the right council against your address at booking and tell you the current rate then, so you are not left working out which authority issues the permit for your particular street. A few of the older pockets here also carry a heritage overlay, which is worth a check before a kerbside placement, and we will raise it if it looks relevant to your address.
Suburbs We Service Around Kingsville
Kingsville sits in a tight cluster of Maribyrnong inner-west suburbs we cover daily, so if your job sits across a boundary we can quote that on the same call. We run the same service into neighbouring bin hire in Yarraville, the single-fronted streets covered by bin hire in Seddon, and the industrial estates served by bin hire in Tottenham. Each is its own page with its own placement and permit detail, and all three sit in the City of Maribyrnong alongside Kingsville.
Frequently Asked Questions
Often a 2m3 or 3m3 mini fits a single-fronted driveway with room to load, which keeps the whole job on your property and out of permit territory. On the tightest frontages there is genuinely no off-street room, and the skip goes kerbside under a Maribyrnong permit. Send us the address and where you pictured the bin and we will tell you which it is before you book.
Only if the bin goes on the road, nature strip or footpath. On your own driveway, inside the boundary, no permit applies. For a kerbside placement the City of Maribyrnong issues the permit across most of Kingsville, and we confirm the rate and the right council when you book.
Most of Kingsville is Maribyrnong City Council. The streets near the Sussex Street edge sit in Hobsons Bay instead, and the permit follows whichever council your street is actually in. We check that against your exact address so the right permit is arranged.
Usually, if you book before 9am and the day is not already full, since Kingsville is a short run from our Sunshine North yard. Booked later in the day, the bin drops the next working day.
A single-room refit generally fits a 3m3 or 4m3, with the 4m3 wheelbarrow door making rubble and cabinetry easier to load. A larger period restoration, or a reno with a garden clear on top, usually steps up to a 6m3 or 8m3.
